Felix DeJesus (2022)
Overview
On February 2, 2022, Paterson New Jersey Police Department officers Jacob Feliciano and Dodi Zorrilla responded to a disturbance call at a store. The officers detained DeJesus, handcuffed him, and put him in a police vehicle. The officers turned off their body-worn cameras, in violation of state regulations. The officers claimed that they released DeJesus at a park while he was wearing only a t-shirt on a winter night.[1]
DeJesus has not been seen since.[1]
DeJesus' family filed a notice of a possible lawsuit against the city and the police department.[1]
On October 31, 2022, the officers were found to not be responsible for DeJesus' disappearance, and were suspended for 90 days without pay for committing neglect of duty and breaking rules regarding body cameras, transporting citizens, patrol procedures, and preparing and filing reports.[1][2]
