2014 Life Saving Award
On January 15, 2014, Nachatilo responded to a vehicle crash and found the driver without a pulse. Nachatilo used an AED and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
2018 Police Service Award
In 2018, Nachatilo received the department's Police Service Award.
2021 Policy Violations
In July 2021, Nachatilo was dispatched regarding a stolen vehicle. Nachatilo never met with the victim and never completed a report regarding the vehicle until it was found two days later by another agency. Nachatilo did not file items found in the car into evidence.
In September 2021, Nachatilo was dispatched to take a missing persons report involving two children under the age of 13. Nachatilo stopped for coffee and arrived after 27 minutes. Nachatilo never filed a required missing persons report in the case and didn't place information about the missing children in a national data bank as required by policy.
In December 2021, Nachatilo was fired.
In February 2022, the Fargo Civil Service Commission upheld the termination.
Nachatilo appealed his firing to the City Commission.
On June 14, 2022, the Mayor and the City Council agreed to allow Nachatilo to resign.
