2022 Arrest for Cocaine Distribution

In November 2021, the Raleigh Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency received tips from two confidential informants who claimed Rodriquez was selling drugs.[1]

On January 24, 2022, Rodriquez met with an informant while on-duty, driving his police car, and in uniform, and sold the informant $2,600 worth of cocaine.[1]

On February 2 and February 8, 2022, Rodriquez sold the informant more cocaine.[3]

On February 23, 2022, Rodriquez was arrested on federal charges of distribution of a quantity of cocaine and possession of a firearm in connection with that offense.[1] Rodriquez faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 5 years in prison if convicted, and a maximum of life in prison.[3]

On March 13, 2023, Rodriguez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five hundred (500) grams or more of cocaine, distribution of a quantity of cocaine, use of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, and possession of contraband while in prison. Rodriguez must permanently surrender his law enforcement certification and will be permanently barred from any law enforcement certification in the state. Rodriguez faces at least 10 years in prison.[4][5]
