Response Timline

On June 20, 2020, Roedema was "moved off regular duty for their own protection" and was "now working in a non-enforcement capacity." Nathan Woodyard and Jason Rosenblatt had been reassigned on June 13, 2020.[2]

On September 1, 2021, Roedema was charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, second-degree assault with intent to cause bodily injury, and one count of a crime of violence, as part of a 32-count indictment.[3][4][5]

On September 1, 2021, in reaction to felony charges being filed, the officers were suspended without pay.[1]

In August 2023, prosecutors removed the "crime of violence" sentence enhancement, which would have imposed higher minimum prison sentences. The prosecutor claimed that the enhancement charges were "unnecessary and would not affect the amount of time the officers might spend in prison".[6]
