Overview

On October 19, 2021, New York City New York Police Department Officers Joseph Vincent and Grace Rosero Tapia were approached by Andy Gilbert, who asked why the officers were not wearing masks, which are required in the subway system by state law. A cell-phone video shows the end of the incident, where the officers push Gilbert out of the platform area.[1]

According to the department, the incident is under internal review.[1]

On October 20, 2021, the officers were issued "command disciplines", a penalty that could cost them up to 10 vacation days, for violating the rule requiring masks.[2]
