Overview

On April 20, 2018, Miami Beach Florida Police Department Officer Adriel Dominguez claimed to smell marijuana and attempted to detain Harmon and pat him down. Harmon claimed that Dominguez made a move for his gun, prompting Harmon to attempt to flee. Officers Alfredo Garcia and Agustin Rodriguez were able to stop Harmon and take him to the ground. Harmon claims that after he was handcuffed, the three officers hit him with "closed fist strikes" to his head, face, and ribs, and Rodriguez hit him with his elbow.[1]

Harmon claims the incident was captured on body-worn cameras and witness cameras, and that the officers yelled at a growing crowd of witnesses.[1]

Harmon claims that a Sergeant refused to discuss the incident with the officers while their cameras were recording.[1]

On November 17, 2021, Harmon sued Dominguez, Garcia, and Rodriguez for violating his civil rights.[1]
