On May 17, 2018, Cavalier and another officer received the Medal of Valor Award resulting from an incident where a man was walking around town and firing a weapon.[1]

Cavalier was not involved in Greene's death. He released the investigator's notes to the media.
Response Timeline
In October 2021, Cavalier was fired for violating department policies on public statements, lawful orders, loyalty to the department, dissemination of information, seeking publicity, and conduct unbecoming an officer.[4]
