2019 Death of Elijah McClain

On Oct 20, 2019, Officers Jones, Erica Marrero, and Kyle Dittrich were on-duty and had just completed a call in the area when they took photos near McClain’s memorial.

On June 30, 2020, Jones resigned due to his involvement with the photographs.[1][2]

July 3, 2020, the Chief's Review Board recommended that the Chief sustain a charge of "Conduct Unbecoming" against Jones. The Chief stated that, had Jones not resigned, he would have been terminated.[3]
