2024 Shooting
On October 30, 2024, Mascia reported that he approached a vehicle that was parked on the median of the road. The driver fired several rounds, one striking Mascia in the leg. Mascia provided the make, model, and license plate for a vehicle.[1][4]

On November 4, 2024, police called off the search for the vehicle while the investigation considers whether Mascia shot himself.

On May 21, 2025, Mascia pleaded guilty to falsely reporting an incident, tampering with physical evidence, and official misconduct.[6][5]
