2021 Inappropriate Contact with a Minor
During an investigation, Varner admitted to inappropriate contact with a female who claimed to be 18 but was actually underage.
Varner was placed on paid administrative leave.
On October 20, 2021, the Benton County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation into the incident, which did not result in criminal charges.
On October 21, 2021, the Pea Ridge Police Department notified Varner that he was under investigation.
The Department determined that Varner's actions were "Unbecoming Conduct" and he was fired after the city "lost confidence in [him] as an employee".
