The incident relates to a July 2022 drunk driving case involving city councilman Matt Sampson.[6]

Response Timeline

In September 2022, Flaherty was suspended as part of a witness tampering investigation, involving a Blue Grass councilman and a another police officer.[4][7]

On October 6, 2022, a search warrant was served on Flaherty's house and car. The County Attorney said that Flaherty is not the "direct focus" of the investigation.[6]

On November 4, 2022, Flaherty was returned to active duty.[7]

On January 18, 2023, the city clerk announced that Flaherty had resigned, "to get out of law enforcement".[5]
