Incident Reports

2022 Arrest of "M.K."

On December 3, 2022, Crawley arrested M.K. for DUI. At the department's booking room, Crawley and M.K. got into a heated conversation. Crawley tried to handcuff M.K., who passively resisted. Crawley put his arm around M.K.'s neck and took him to the ground, and later choked M.K. until his face turned red. Another officer told Crawley to stop.[1]

Response Timeline

M.K. filed a complaint against Crawley.[1]

The department investigated and found the force used was "excessive and unreasonable".[1]

Crawley refused to meet with the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (POST).[1]

On August 15, 2023, the POST Commission revoked Crawley's certification for criminal conduct, failure to cooperate in the investigation, unprofessional conduct, and a lack of good moral character.[1]
