2016 Use of Force

Response Timeline

In 2016, Boelter was suspended for three days for violating the department's use of force policy.[1]

2021 Shooting of Rod Reed

On December 6, 2021, Reed was involved in a vehicle accident and was gathering his possessions from the disabled car. Boelter arrived, saw Reed reach for a gun on the dashboard, and shot him. Reed was shot in the leg.[1]

The incident was captured on Boelter's body-worn camera.[3]

2022 Assault by Student

On March 28, 2022, Boelter was assaulted by a 15-year old student at a local high school. Boelter used pepper spray to escape the student's headlock.[4]
