2022 Disorderly Conduct
On December 11, 2022, Zane was working a security job while in uniform. Zane was asked to remove "K.N." from the property for loitering. An altercation ensued, and Zane took K.N. to the ground and punched him in the face with a closed fist. Zane was able to remove K.N. from the property.[1]
Minutes later, Zane saw that K.N. was back on the property. Zane threw K.N. to the ground and threw K.N.'s belongings off the property.[1]
The incident was captured on the business's surveillance camera.[3]
Response Timeline
A criminal investigation was opened. Zane reported that he was "sick of it" when he threw K.N. to the ground and was angrier the second time.[1]
On December 22, 2022, Zane was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.[4]
Zane pleaded not guilty.[3]
On April 27, 2023, Zane entered a diversion program. Zane must attend an anger management course and complete 30 hours of community service.[3]
On August 15, 2023, the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (POST) revoked Zane's certification for criminal conduct, unprofessional conduct, and a lack of good moral character.[1]
