2018 Misconduct
Between September and December 2018, $17,167.58 went missing from the department's evidence room, which Shultz supervised. Shultz claimed that he accidentally burned the money.[3]
Response Timeline
The state's Law Enforcement Division opened an investigation which found 21 files with currency missing and which had last been modified by Shultz.[3]
Shultz was charged with misconduct in office[3]
On February 7, 2019, Shultz was fired.[1]
On March 30, 2023, a jury found Shultz not guilty of misconduct in office. [4]
