2021 Accusations towards Will Espero

In April 2021, former state Senator Espero commented on a Facebook post, calling for body-worn camera footage to be released in an officer-involved shooting death of a Honolulu teenager. Desiderio replied, claiming that Espero had previously dodged a police raid while at a massage parlor.[1]

On April 29, 2021, Espero filed a complaint with the department.[1]

Response Timeline

On September 10, 2021, Espero received a letter from the department, noting that Desiderio had received "firm and appropriate action". The department clarified that Desiderio was not suspended, but likely received a written reprimand or counseling.[1]
