2023 Domestic Violence

Christopher Perez

On February 18, 2023, Perez argued with a woman who he believed had been cheating on him. During the argument, Perez grabbed the woman by the throat and pushed her onto a couch. Perez stopped when he noticed a child nearby. After moving the child to another room, Perez grabbed the woman around the neck with both hands. The woman felt that she was losing consciousness and was going to die.^[2]^[4]

Perez initially claimed that "nothing physical" had occurred.^[4]

Response Timeline

On February 18, 2023, Perez was arrested and charged with assault in the second degree and domestic violence.^[4]

Perez was placed on unpaid investigatory leave.^[1]

In April 2023, Perez resigned.^[2]

On June 15, 2023, Perez pleaded guilty to second-degree assault - attempted strangulation. Perez was given a deferred sentence and 18 months of probation.^[2] ‎
