2022 Collision with Douglas Salom
On February 8, 2022, Hernandez was responding to a call about a stolen car when he struck a man who ran into the road from between two parked cars.
Salom's leg was broken. Hernandez and his partner rendered aid until an ambulance arrived.
The incident was captured on Hernandez's dash camera.
On November 16, 2022, Salom filed a lawsuit against the city, the department, and Hernandez.
Hernandez was fired for excessive speed and causing serious injury to the victim.
