In October 2016, Kitchens was commended for "his persistence in maintaining a running dialogue with" a domestic violence suspect who was armed and had barricaded themselves inside a house.[2]

2018 Arrest of Eric Brandt
Response Timeline
On February 5, 2020, Brandt sued the officers and the city, citing violations of his First, Fourth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights.[3]
On November 28, 2022, the Denver City Council voted to pay $65,000 to settle Brandt's lawsuit.[4]
