On September 30, 2021, Wright was named the 2020 Post 4 Trooper of the Year. Wright also received the Lifesaving Award for applying a tourniquet to a critically injured man.[3][4][5]

2021 Arrest of Michael Sietsema
On June 1, 2021, Wright stopped Michael Sietsema for speeding. Sietsema refused Wright's order to get off his motorcycle and put suspected drugs in the gas tank. Wright used his Taser several times, after which Sietsema "became compliant".[6]
Sietsema was charged with resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.[6]
