2023 DWI
On June 2, 2023, officers responded to a car stopped at a traffic light and found Badillo asleep at the the wheel of his department vehicle. A half-empty bottle of alcohol was found in the back seat.[1] Badillo was off-duty.[3]
Officers noted that Badillo had difficulty walking, smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, and was slurring his speech.[1]
Badillo claimed to have "had three or four beers".[1]
Badillo's blood alcohol level was measured at .18, more than twice the legal limit.[1]
Badillo was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence.[1]
The incident was captured on an officer's body-worn camera.[1]
