On July 22, 2022, Salazar was working an off-duty security job at a bar when an argument broke out between a customer and a member of the staff. As the customer was walking away, Salazar pushed him to the ground.[1]

A use of force complaint was filed with the department.[1]

Response Timeline

Salazar was placed on restricted duty and his police powers were suspended during the investigation.[1]

Surveillance video of the incident did not match with Salazar's statement.[1]

On January 13, 2023, Salazar was fired as he "used greater force than necessary and that he was untruthful in the reporting of this incident".[1]
