Critical Incident Debrief - Officer Involved Shooting
Yeun's Body-Worn Camera Video

On July 16, 2022, San Bernardino County California Police Department officers Michael Yeun and Imran Ahmed were conducting surveillance on an illegal casino. The officers received information of a black man in the parking lot with a gun. The officers located Adams, who had a handgun in his waistband. Adams drew the handgun and walked towards the officers. When the officers ordered Adams to stop, he ran. Thinking that Adams was looking for cover from which to attack then, Yeun fired, striking Adams.[1][2]

Officers rendered medical aid.[1] Adams died at the hospital.[3]

The incident was captured on Yeun's body-worn camera and a security camera.[2]

The agency opened an investigation.[1]

The District Attorney opened an investigation.[2]

In December 16, 2022, Adams' family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city and the officers.[3]

On February 17, 2024, the city settled the family's civil lawsuit for $4 million.[2]
