2018 Death of Ki'Anthony Tyus

An internal investigation determined that Marcum did not violate the department's policy.[3]
Legal Action
In January 2019, Tyus' family sued the driver of the vehicle, the department, and Marcum.[3]
The County Attorney's Office, which represented Marcum, argued that Marcum was protected by qualified immunity because his actions were not a substantial factor in causing the crash.[3]
On December 8, 2021, the lawsuit was settled for $600,000.[3]
