2021 Forgery

In 2021, Watts-Johnson applied to the Erie Colorado Police Department, and claimed to have served in the military, including training from the Army Rangers, Airborne, and Air Assault Division.[1]

In January 2022, the Police Chief noticed that Watts-Johnson's military paperwork did not describe the training. Watts-Johnson was asked to provide complete information prior to June 28, 2022.[1]

On June 28, 2022, Watts-Johnson produced new documents, but the department questioned their legitimacy and contacted the U.S. Army for an official version.[1]

Response Timeline

On July 8, 2022, Watts-Johnson was placed on paid leave pending an investigation.[1]

On July 13, 2022, Watts-Johnson was fired following the investigation.[1]

Watts-Johnson is expected to face felony charges of forgery and attempt to influence a public servant.[1]

On October 3, 2023, Watts-Johnson pleaded guilty to forgery of a government-issued document, and was sentenced to 2 years of probation and 150 hours of community service.[2]
