2019 Arrest of John Veiga
In 2019, Garcia-Contreras was working an off-duty security detail at a club when he saw a fight between Veiga and a security guard. Veiga accused Garcia-Contreras of punching him in the face while arresting him.[1]
Veiga filed a complaint against Garcia-Contreras.[1]

2021 Arrest of Willie Barbor
On April 16, 2021, Garcia-Contreras was working an off-duty security detail at a supermarket when a manager notified him that Barbor had taken and eaten some prepared food. Garcia-Contreras confronted Barbor, who backed away and raised his hands. Garcia-Contreras pushed Barbor, took him to the ground, and punched him repeatedly in the head.[2]
The incident was captured by a witness's cell-phone video.[2]
Barbor was arrested for petty theft, resisting without violence, and disorderly conduct.[2]

On April 20, 2022, the charges against Barbor were dismissed.[4]
Garcia-Contreras was suspended with pay during an investigation.[2]
