2007-2021 Dereliction of Duty
While Schroder was an investigator for the department's Personal Crimes Unit, which handles reports of sexual abuse crimes against children and missing persons, he mishandled evidence.[1]
An audit revealed the issues, and investigators reviewed 865 of Schroder's cases. In at least 48 cases, Schroder delayed submitting rape kits for testing from six months to six years.[1]

On January 18, 2023, Schroder pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor charges of dereliction of duty. Schroder faced 450 days in jail, but was sentenced to five years of probation.[1]
