2020 Shooting
In December 2020, Colbert and another man were working security outside of a business when a man got into an argument with them, pulled a gun, and shot Colbert and the other security guard.[2]
2021 Arrest of John Dolley
On December 26, 2021, Colbert and other officers responded to a reported disturbance and encountered Dolley. The incident was captured on cell-phone video by a witness and by the city's surveillance cameras. As the video starts, Colbert is seen throwing Dolley to the ground and kneeling on his back while Dolley was handcuffed by another officer.[1][3]
Dolley was charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace, both misdemeanors.[1]
Response Timeline
After an internal investigation, Colbert was suspended for 15 days with pay and ordered to take an anger management class. Colbert was given 45 days on probation.[1]
