On May 3, 2021, Davis was fired.[3]
On May 7, 2021, a grand jury indicted Davis on two charges of assault, including second-degree assault, which is a Class C felony punishable by one to 10 years in prison, and third-degree assault, which is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.[3]
On September 20, 2021, the charges against Davis were upgraded to attempted murder, second-degree assault, and first-degree kidnapping.[4]
On May 25, 2022, Davis pleaded guilty to federal charges deprivation of rights under color of law.[5] Davis faces up to 10 years in prison.[6]
On September 6, 2022, Davis was sentenced to time served for the federal charge.[1]
On September 14, 2023, Davis pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in exchange for prosecutors dropping the attempted murder charge. The kidnapping charge will also be dismissed. Davis must serve 30 days in jail, with the rest of a five-year sentence suspended.[5]
