2013 Assault of Joshua Robinson
On March 3, 2013, Robinson ran a stop sign and was pulled over by Sergeant David Allen, who allegedly struck him in the head with a flashlight. Officer Christopher Ziroli arrived, dragged Robinson from his vehicle and punched him in the face. Allen held Robinson in a headlock while Ziroli used pepper spray. Officers Mark Hubbard, Joseph Donnelly, Sean Lafferty, Jerome Lynch, Matthew McGloin, Matthew Rampone, and Clifford Torres arrived and failed to intervene.[3]
Allen claimed that Robinson was attempting to swallow small bags of cocaine, and he used a "pressure point" to try and stop Robinson. When Robinson tried to hit the officer with a closed fist, Allen struck him with a flashlight.[3]
Robinson claimed to hear one officer ask another, "should we call an ambulance or throw him in the river?".[4]
No drugs were found in the vehicle or in Robinson's system.[3]
