2022 Vehicle Accident
On March 5, 2022, Reid was on-duty and driving an unmarked police vehicle when he collided with a traffic barrier. Reid removed the vehicle's license plates and department laptop before abandoning the vehicle on railroad tracks. Reid claimed that he had left the car at a police substation.[4]

On March 7, 2022, Reid was arrested and charged with obstructing a roadway, tampering with physical evidence, and vehicle theft.[4]
After his arrest, Reid resigned.[1]
On June 15, 2023, Reid was indicted by a grand jury on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle.[5]
On September 18, 2023, the charge for tampering with physical evidence was closed.[6]
On January 19, 2024, Reid was granted deferred adjudication for unauthorized use of a vehicle. Reid will be supervised for five years, must pay the department $8,000 in restitution, and perform 100 hours of community service.[5]
On January 22, 2024, the charge for obstructing a roadway was dismissed.[7]
