On April 9, 2022, police responded to a call of a suspicious truck at a gas station. The clerk reported that the truck had been idling at the pumps for an hour and that the driver was "passed out drunk". Officers found Hamby in the truck and determined that he was impaired. Hamby was off-duty.[1]

Hamby took a breathalyzer test and blew a .15, nearly twice the legal limit.[1]
