2022 Off-Duty Shooting

On November 20, 2022, Caselnova was off-duty at a bar in New York and got into an altercation with a group of other people. Caselnova and another person exchanged gunfire.[2]

Police responded and shot Caselnova when he refused to drop his weapon.[2]

The incident was captured by a surveillance system and responding officers' body-worn cameras.

Caselnova was placed on unpaid administrative leave.[1]

On March 28, 2023, Caselnova was charged with second degree attempted murder, first degree assault, second degree menacing, second degree reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm in a sensitive location, two counts of possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and second degree harassment.[3]

Caselnova pleaded not guilty.[4]

On May 2, 2023, a grand jury indicted Caselnova on attempted murder, includes assault, reckless endangerment, menacing, harassment, and possessing a firearm in a "sensitive location".[5]
