2024 Death of Nyah Mway
On June 28, 2024, Husnay and officers including Bryce Patterson and Andrew Citriniti were patrolling to locate suspects involved in an earlier armed robbery. Officers approached the 13-year-old Mway and another juvenile, who they believed matched the suspects' descriptions. Officers attempted to pat down Mway, who ran away. While running, Mway drew a handgun and pointed it at the pursuing officers.[4] Patterson tackled Mway. Husnay fired, striking Mway.[5]
Officers rendered aid before paramedics arrived.[5] Mway died at the hospital.[6]
The incident was captured on officers' body-worn cameras.[4]
The handgun was determined to be a pellet gun.[4]
