2022 Death of Cody Kiley
On September 12, 2022, Kiley's mother called the police, claiming that he was threatening her with a firearm. Several officers arrived and found an armed Kiley in the backyard. York released his K9 partner, but Kiley did not drop the weapon and continued to threaten. York fired, killing Kiley.[1][3]
Response Timeline
The Pinellas County Florida Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation[1] and held an initial press conference.[4]
York was placed on administrative leave.[3]
