Overview
On August 3, 2017, Vallejo California Police Department officers chased Barboa, who was wanted in connection with an armed robbery. Barboa crashed, exited his vehicle with a knife, and slowly advanced on officers while ignoring their commands. Officers Stephanie McDonough, Jake Estrada, David McLaughlin, Zach Jacobsen, and Matt Komoda fired, killing Barboa.
In March 2018, a jury empaneled for the coroner's inquest hearing ruled that the death was a suicide.[1]
