2024 Battery of Shanna McRee
On December 6, 2024, Cannon was at the jail, processing a handcuffed Shanna McRee, who was arrested for DUI after a crash. McRee was uncooperative, stood up, and refused orders to sit back down. Cannon threw McRee to the ground.[4]
Cannon reported that McRee had "jumped up" and attempted to leave the room.[1] This claim is not supported by the video.
The incident was captured on surveillance video and body-worn camera.[4]
