2021 Death of Ronald Zavaglia
On August 18, 2021, Clark and other officers responded after the department received several disturbance calls. One caller reported someone with a gun who was trying to break down a door.[3]
Officers knocked on the door of the residence. Zavaglia answered the door with a rifle and raised it towards the officers. Zavaglia refused to comply with the officer's commands to drop the rifle.[3][4]
Clark fired once, striking Zavaglia. Officers provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived. Zavaglia died at the scene.[4]
The incident was recorded on body-worn camera video.[3]
Response Timeline
Clark was placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.[1]
A special grand jury did not return an indictment for Clark.[4]
