2020 Deaths of Lynda Jones and Richard Jones
On July 9, 2020, police were called about the occupants of an SUV who were were acting unusually at a gas station. The first officer made contact with the SUV, which then drove off. Urbina and other officers joined the chase, which ended when the SUV crashed. Lynda Jones and her son, Richard Jones, were killed in the crash.[1]
Response Timeline
The five officers involved were suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.[1]
On March 4, 2022, Urbana was indicted by a grand jury on a misdemeanor charge of misconduct in office.[1]
