2001 Sexual Assault

In 2001, Watts was in uniform when he approached a woman outside of a grocery store and threatened to issue her a traffic citation unless she sent him nude photos of herself.[2]

2002 Sexual Assault

In 2002, Watts caught a woman having sex with a man in her car. Watts demanded that the woman perform a sex act on him.[2]

The investigation ended when the victim refused to cooperate with the investigation after filing the initial complaint.[2]

2021 Child Pornography

On October 20, 2021, Philadelphia Pennsylvania Police Department Officer William Watts, Sr. was found to have used the internet to download images of children being sexually abused.[1]

The Philadelphia Police Commissioner plans to suspend Watts for 30 days with the intent to dismiss him afterwards.[1]

On October 20, 2021, Watts was arrested and charged with transportation and possession of child pornography. If convicted, Watts faces a maximum possible sentence of 40 years in prison.[1]

Watts was terminated.[2]

In July 2022, Watts pleaded guilty.[2]

On December 14, 2022, Watts was sentenced to 5 years and 10 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Watts must register as a sex offender.[2]
