2021 Assault

On December 3, 2021, Lynch was off-duty and serving as an assistant coach at a girls' high school basketball game. A fight broke out between players on the court, and video shows Lynch running into the group.[2] It is alleged that Lynch assaulted a juvenile female.[3]

The Kentucky State Police investigated and determined "that Owsley County Sheriff, Brent Lynch, had actually assaulted a female during that altercation".[3]

On December 7, 2021, an arrest warrant was issued.[4]

Response Timeline

On December 9, 2021, Lynch was arrested and charged with one count of assault in the fourth degree. If convicted, Lynch faces up to one year in jail.[3]
