2023 Arrest of James French
2025 Shooting of Jason Redshirt
On September 24, 2025, Skinner responded to a disturbance and found Redshirt, who was shouting. Skinner tried to calm Redshirt down. Redshirt approached Skinner in an aggressive way, prompting Skinner to use pepper spray. Redshirt retreated and began throwing wood and bricks at Skinner, resulting in minor injuries. Skinner fired, striking Redshirt.[2][3]
Skinner rendered aid until paramedics arrived.[2]
Redshirt was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a police officer.[2]
On September 25, 2025, Skinner was placed on administrative leave.
