2022 Sexual Assault of Ejeane Lewis

On April 9, 2022, Dotson pulled Lewis over for a traffic stop. Lewis fled, but was caught, arrested, and taken to the police department.[2]

After processing, Dotson offered to give Lewis a ride back to her car. Dotson instead drove behind an abandoned building, turned off his radio and camera, and sexually assaulted Lewis.[2]

Response Timeline

Dotson was placed on administrative leave with pay.[2]

A department investigation found that Dotson and a booking officer did not follow protocol during Lewis' arrest and booking.[1]

The State Attorney's Office is investigating to see if criminal charges will be filed. [1]

On April 13, 2022, Dotson resigned from the department.[1]
