2022 DWI
On July 1, 2022, a San Antonio Texas Police Department officer saw Garza going 80 mph in a 60 mph zone while failing to maintain a single lane and changing lanes improperly. The officer turned on his emergency lights but Garza did not stop. The officer turned off his lights, followed Garza, and requested a helicopter to track the vehicle.[1]
Garza was seen running a red light before he stopped. Garza refused a sobriety test and a breath test.[1]

On July 1, 2022, Garza was arrested for DWI and evading arrest.[1]
The department started the process to fire Garza.[1]
In October 2022, Garza entered a deferred adjudication program and was sentenced to one year of community service for obstructing a highway. The charge of evading was dismissed.[3]
In September 2022, Garza resigned in lieu of termination.[3]
