2017 Death of Phillip Clark

Thornton was placed on paid administrative leave after the accident.[3]
As the result of an internal investigation, Thornton received a speeding ticket and a five-day suspension for driving too fast.[3]
In July 2017, Clark's family filed a lawsuit against the department and Thornton.[1]
On January 7, 2020, a grand jury decided not to indict Thornton.[4]
In November 2021, the lawsuit filed by Clark's family was settled. Details were not disclosed.[3]
