2025 Assault
On June 29, 2025, an inmate at the jail "propelled excrement and/or urine from a toilet onto Heredia’s face". Heredia punched the inmate multiple times.[1][3]
The incident was captured on surveillance video.[3]
The Sheriff's Office asked the Roseburg Oregon Police Department to investigate.[1]
Response Timeline
On June 29, 2025, Heredia was placed on administrative leave.[1]
On July 3, 2025, Heredia was arrested for first-degree official misconduct and fourth-degree assault.[1]
On July 3, 2025, Heredia was fired.[1]
On July 7, 2025, the District Attorney did not charge Heredia, who was released from jail. The DA has 30 days to file charges.[4]
Only July 9, 2025, the District Attorney filed the charges.[3]
