Lawyers claimed that 14 people were involved in incidents with Oakley.[5]

2023 Arrest of Dwayne Hicks

On September 20, 2023, Oakley stopped Hicks and removed his license plate from his vehicle. Oakley followed Hicks home, tased him, and arrested him.[5]

Response Timeline

Oakley was placed on paid administrative leave.[6][7]

In January 2024, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) opened an investigation into complaints of improper use of force.[3]

The SBI concluded that Oakley used his Taser on unarmed subjects that were not actively resisting arrest and that Oakley did not appear to be in immediate physical danger.[3]

On March 25, 2024, Oakley was fired for "serious detrimental personal conduct".[2]
