2019 Sexual Assault Arrest
On December 12, 2019, Geerdes was off-duty and attending a holiday party when he twice sexually assaulted a woman.[1]
Response Timeline
On December 28, 2020, the city hired an independent investigator.[1]
On February 16, 2021, the investigator issued their findings, and Geerdes was informed that he might be disciplined.[1]
Around March 1, 2021, Geerdes accused another officer of "ratting him out" and falsifying information. Geerdes threatened the officer's career and family.[3][1]
On March 15, 2021, Geerdes resigned from the Edgewater Colorado Police Department.[1]
Geerdes was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of sexual contact and one for retaliation against a witness.[1]
On December 6, 2022, Geerdes was terminated by the Black Hawk Colorado Police Department.[1]
