2019-22 Domestic Abuse
In January 2023, the agency learned of allegations that Stewart had committed multiple felonies against his former spouse.[4][5]
Response Timeline
On January 18, 2023, Stewart was arrested and charged with stalking, domestic abuse, and assault with a deadly weapon.[4]
Stewart was placed on paid administrative leave.[4]
On January 31, 2023, the state Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) temporarily suspended Stewart's certification during the criminal investigation and for "egregious or repeated acts that violate the law".[6]
On March 1, 2023, Stewart separated from the agency.[2]
On August 5, 2025, Stewart entered a plea and was sentenced to probation.[7]
On November 13, 2025, the POST commission ruled Louis as ineligible for certification due to his conviction.[2]
