2022 Theft
In July 2022, Tran was dispatched on a wellness check on an older man.
On July 14, 2022, Tran charged more than $3,000 to the man's credit card.[2]
On July 25, 2022, Tran forged a $42,500 check from the man's bank.[4]
On August 30, 2022, Tran forged two additional checks for $68,500.[4]
The incident was reported to police by the man's state-appointed conservator.[2]
Response Timeline
On November 8, 2022, Tran was arrested for theft from an elder, forgery, grand theft, identity theft, and fraudulent use of a credit card.[5][6][2]
Tran was placed on paid administrative leave.[1]
On January 31, 2023, Tran was fired.[2][6]
In May 2023, Tran pleaded guilty. If Tran makes a full restitution, the charge will be treated as a misdemeanor with a 6 month sentence, otherwise a felony with a sentence of up to one year.[7][6]
On January 9, 2024, the state Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) revoked Tran's certification following his felony conviction.[8]
